This is a high-impact technical leadership role offering full ownership of statutory reporting, audit management and UK SOX compliance across a complex, multi-entity group. The successful candidate will gain significant exposure to senior leadership while playing a key role in shaping best-practice financial controls as the business continues to grow.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to step into a true Group-level reporting and controls position, moving beyond pure production accounting into a broader leadership role that:
Owns the end-to-end Group statutory reporting process
Acts as the technical accounting authority for the business
Leads UK SOX controls governance and testing
Serves as the primary liaison for the external audit relationship
Develops and mentors a technically focused reporting team
You'll be joining an ambitious business investing heavily in its finance function, providing genuine career progression toward senior leadership roles such as Financial Controller or Head of Group Reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Statutory Accounts
Lead preparation of the Group and subsidiary statutory accounts in line with IFRS / UK GAAP and Companies Act requirements.
Own complex accounting judgements across:
Revenue recognition
Inventory, costing and WIP
IFRS 16 lease accounting
Capital expenditure and fixed assets
Pensions, treasury, provisions and FX
UK SOX & Controls
Audit & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the central point of contact for external auditors.
Manage planning, fieldwork, and issue resolution.
Prepare technical positions and audit deliverables, ensuring timely sign-off.
Process Improvement & Systems
Drive continuous improvement of monthly consolidation and reporting processes.
Standardise reporting practices across business units.
Support finance systems enhancements to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Lead and develop a small group reporting team.
Provide technical guidance to site finance teams.
Coach emerging talent within the wider finance function.
Projects & Business Support
Provide accounting leadership for M&A activity, business restructures and transformation initiatives.
About You
Essential Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) – ideally trained within Big 4 or Top 10 Audit
Strong technical background in statutory and group reporting
Experience operating within a SOX / UK SOX or highly controlled environment
Background in manufacturing or complex multi-entity businesses
Confident managing audits, technical reviews and senior stakeholder relationships
